PSHS Batch 2019 Scholars Organize Fundraiser for Jeepney Drivers affected by the COVID-19 Pandemic

By Gabrielle Charis Tagtag and Mary Grace Diane Lazatin

Due to the ongoing pandemic, thousands of jeepney drivers have lost their jobs and appealed to the public for help. To aid them in their plight, students from Batch 2019 of the PSHS System organized a fundraiser, "TAHAKin 19". It ran from June 10 to July 17, 2020.

TAHAKin 19, short for Tulong at Ayuda para sa HAri ng Kalsada, is the brainchild of Jami Carig and batchmates. Carig, PSHS-CVC Batch 2019 alumna and overall project head, said, “When everything was just an idea in my head, I wasn't 100% convinced that I could at least pitch the idea to anyone, so what more to everybody from our batch. In the end, I reminded myself that this isn't for me, this is for our jeepney drivers and their families who are starving, so I needed to do it.”
